How it works

The reason that swimming is the best sport because the buoyancy of the water counteracts the force of gravity, making swimming a perfect low-impact sport that puts little stress on bones and joints. What are the benefits? It is a great way to burn calories: an hour of swimming burns 500 calories. If you burn 500 calories more than you eat every day, you can lose a pound a week. You can lose almost 90% of your body weight with swimming. It takes more physical effort to swim two miles than it does to run two miles.

It is a low-impact exercise, and it is better for older people to pick swimming over running.

Swimming is an aquatic sport. It is both aerobic and anaerobic exercise and an activity that burns lots of calories, is easy on the joints, supports your weight, boosts flexibility, and builds muscular strength and endurance. It is one of the few sports or activities that doesn’t cost lots of money or require any equipment. It holds no age or ability barrier. Swimming balances blood pressure and normalises pulse rate.

Do you sweat when you swim? Because your body heat is conducted by colder pool water, you don’t sweat nearly as much as you would if you were exercising out of water. Have you ever tried going for a run in 90-degree heat vs swimming in 90- degree heat. Which one is easier? Swimming! Not only is swimming more fun than running, but it’s it’s easier. Swimming is easier on your body than running or playing volleyball. When you swim, you get a full-body workout that is easier on your joints than running. When you are swimming, you are working mostly your lower body, including your guts, hamstrings, calves and quadriceps. You can burn off roughly 400 calories during a vigorous, intense 30-minute swim. But in running you only burn roughly 308 calories during a 30-minute run at 6 mph.

Did you know that swimming actually reduces anxiety and stress and relaxes your muscles. When you are anxious, one solid swimming session can help you to shake off the pressure and reset your mind and mood. Whether you have an anxiety disorder or simply are more anxious than you want to be, swimming can help you gain relief from symptoms and even prevent future episodes of stress and anxiety.

Some people question whether swimming is a real sport; but did you know it’s one of the most intense sports out there? The reason is because swimming is a full body exercise. You name the muscle, swimming probably uses it.

The reason I find swimming to be the best sport is because, it’s fun. It’s something you can do with your friends, get exercise, and still have fun in the summer. All you have to do is learn how to swim and buy a swimsuit. Although you do have to wake up at 6 A.M. It is still worth jumping into a freezing pool every morning.
