How it works

Albert Einstein was a German American scientist that is thought to be one of the greatest minds ever. He is best known for his theories on relativity and theories of matter and heat. Einstein is considered one of the greatest physicists of all time because he is thought to have changed the way someone looks at the universe. He is the most famous modern scientist and many of his findings still help us today.

Einstein was born in Ulm, southern Germany, to a Jewish Couple.

One year after he was born he moved to Munich, Germany. Einstein didn’t show any signs of being a genius at an early age. Since he did not like to receive instructions in school, he started to get an education at home. However even though he was homeschooled, he would still have to go to school in Munich. While at Munich he still would get decent grades, however his best subject was Mathematics. Since he hated everything about school, a teacher suggested to him to leave and just study at home since he wasn’t happy. The teacher suggested this because just him being at school would cause the other students to be very disrespectful to the adults. An interesting story that Einstein loved to tell was when he first saw a compass. He said that the needle had a northward swing and was very confused. He then knew that there was something behind it and he wanted to know the hidden mysteries that the compass had. Einstein first learned algebra and the pythagoras’s theorem when his uncle taught it to him. His uncle would visit the family very often and was Einstein’s mentor from a very young age.. He would help him with everything and encouraged him to never give up and to always follow his dreams. At a very young age Einstein loved to solve every algebraic and geometrical problem he could find on his own. At the age of twelve he read a couple of books on Euclid Geometry and learned the whole thing on his own in a short period of time. Also at the age of fourteen he read a few science books that would influence him for the rest of his life.

At the age of fifteen his parents moved to Milan, Italy. Since this was going to happen, Einstein decided to drop out of his school in Munich. After school he spent a year just living with his parents and reading anything he could. A while pass until finally Einstein got tired and realized that he needed to do something in his life. With his new motivation,he decided to finish school in Aarau, Switzerland. In 1895, he tried to enter into the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, which was a very good university. He took the entrance exam twice. The first time he failed, but they allowed him to take it again and he passed. In the university Albert realized that his true love was Physics. Hower Einstein also hated this school so much that he would rarely show up to class. He said he would rather stay home and do experiments and have his friend take notes for him. Then when he finished, he would just study the notes on his own and take the tests.
Einstein graduated from the university with very average grades. He tried to get a job at a university as a professor, but no one would hire him due to his grades. An interesting fact about him was that he became a Swiss citizen to find a job in Switzerland, but they wouldn’t hire him either. In 1902 he found a job at the patent office at Bern. All he had to do there was put in the applications for the patents. Since his job was easy it gave him the time he needed for his love of Physics questions that he had. In 1903 he married his first wife, Mileva Maritsch, and had two sons with her.

Einstein really started to gain a following when he started to publish his papers in the news or in local stores. One of his most famous major papers was Annus Mirabilis. With his paper getting popular, he finally got hired as a professor in 1905. He was hired to work at the University of Zurich. In total there was four papers in Annus Mirabilis. The first one was about the dimensions of molecules and the theoretical dissertations. The second was about the Brownian Motion. In this paper he made predictions about the motion of particles. The third paper he wrote was about the Photoelectric Effect. This theory contained a revolutionary hypothesis on the lights nature. The important thing about this paper was that he wrote about how a photon was proportional to frequency. His Fourth and most famous paper was the one about Theory of Special Relativity. In this paper he wrote about the interaction viewed simultaneously by an observer and by an observer moving at uniform speed.

Einstein didn’t really become world famous until some of the things in his Theory of Special Relativity were proved true. In this theory he explained the unexplained variations in the orbital motion of the planets. IN 1919 this was proved to be right when there was an eclipse. After the eclipse, people began to realize that what he said was actually correct. From that moment he became world known. He was invited to many special meetings and parties. At one of the parties he met one of his favorite scientist Max Planck, from then on he began to work with some of the most greatest minds in the world. In the same year that he mest these people, he also married his cousin Elsa. In 1921 he won the Nobel Prize for Physics and he felt very accomplished. He won this due to the research he did on the photoelectric effect.
Since Einstein was a public declared Zionist, he was the targeted by many people. He would be teased and not given respect in Germany because of the things he believed. After a little bit of time, Albert moved to Germany to work at the University in Prague. When Hitler started to gain power, he immediately moved to New Jersey since he would be considered a Jew. Einstein later learned that a German scientist learned how to split the uranium atom. Knowing this, Einstein and other scientist sent an important letter to President Roosevelt. In this letter he urged the president to create a bomb project also. This project began to be known as the Manhattan project. Einstein also helped to make the first two atomic Bombs. In the world.

Albert Einstein died in 1955, in Princeton, New Jersey. However he died happy because he was able to see his own people return to their homeland. This was something he wanted to see his entire life. In conclusion, Einstein accomplished many things in his life. He didn’t like school and was jobless for a long time. However, einstein didn’t give up and proved everyone wrong. So now that you know a little more about Einstein, maybe every time you see a Scientist with crazy hair, you’ll know he was way more than that.
