Research on Lewis and Clark Expedition

Introduction

Lewis and Clark had many journeys like they explored the pacific ocean and Louisiana purchase. they had many friends like Sacagawea and the core of discovery. they also discovered the Black-tailed prairie dog, swift fox and, Grizzly bear.

How Lewis and Clark  Started

Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana purchase. France needed money so they offered fifteen million or 15,000,000 and Thomas Jefferson only wanted to spend

Ten million or 10,000,000.

but they said it was 870,000 square miles and that was almost double the size of the US at the time.

So as you know today it’s here so it means that he accepted it looked like this at the time before the Louisiana purchase. See it was almost just as big as the U.S.A or the United States Of America.

But Thomas Jefferson didn’t know what was their. so here is where when Lewis and Clark comes in .here is a little backstory of lewis. Lewis was born on August 18, 1774.

Clark was born on January 10, 1809, they both had a dog named Seamore during their journeys. So there was some background.

Corps of Discovery

Corps of discovery was a special unit of the US army then they were too help Lewis and Clark to keep them safe from all of the dangers of the places they explored like the Louisiana purchase and the pacific ocean they helped when there was danger of animals such as when they discovered the grizzly bear the might of gotten attacked they also might of faced more later on.

WHAT DID THEY DO IN THEIR FREE TIME

Well they simply played games or wrote to there family so they can talk to their daughters or wife if they had one. those a lot of them were trained men with skills out in the wild. The games they played were probably card games.

WHO AND WHAT DID THEY MEET

They met Sacagawea Some people say that Charbonneau won Sacagawea while gambling with the Hidatsa. also known as Hidatsa are Siouan people. They met/discovered the grizzly bear the found that they are lethal when you touch or go near anything that the grizzly bear claimed like their young cubs or food etc.they also discovered the prairie dog well it’s what it sounds like a dog or a pet maybe  they are wild animals that could hurt you just like any other animal in this world
