How it works

Adults and Children, typically under eighteen are involved in incidents of Human trafficking happening. Adults are reviewed to be trafficked when they are involved in commercial acts for a benefit in return through fraud, force or coercion. Children are listed to be trafficked through commercial sex acts through force, coercion or having obtained money for them through deception.

To be oblivious is to be unaware. Human Trafficking should be acknowledged more through legal measures and in your community, to cut down on the intensified rates and to be aware of how to spot it.

This organized crime is not easy to notice, one of the consequences being it is not reported as much as it should be. It can happen anywhere, but it is imperative to know Human Traffickers thrive off of seclusion. An example of thriving from seclusion is The Hospitality division. When dealing within the hospitality industry, it is based off of privacy and surrounded by customer service. Hotels want to keep their customers satisfied and receive good rating/reviews which can provide targets and the perfect cover for traffickers while doing so. In this industry, recognizing the signs are crucial and beneficial. To achieve this, a first step is to be educated on it. Not only as a traditional citizen but from the workers of hotels–the staff, to cooks, to valet, security, front desk/reception and to the housekeeping segment.

To specify, the hotel staff should be attentive to attire, not fitting age, sleeplessness, injuries, weird behavior bad hygiene, no ID or anything within their territories, being confined and monitored. Cooks and beverage handlers should be attentive to people taking money things off of tables and targets waiting to be picked up by males typically at a bar or table. The valet, security and front desk should be aware of multiple reservations of rooms, unusual patterns with room reservations, cars that hide license plate regularly and individuals who beg and ask for things. Lastly, housekeeping attendees should take note of personal belongings, a lot of technology devices being present, an overbearing quantity of sexual items and denying room access while constantly asking for new room service courteous items (Human Trafficking and the Hospitality Industry. Department of Homeland Security, 20 June 2018).

Are you beginning a new argument here or is this part of your Argument #1? In addition, banking plays a significant role. With its financial services and storage, it provides a way for traffickers to not have to carry cash on hand. In aid of catching illegal activity between traffickers and buyers, through money trails within banking, they can provide a connection. Unordinary patterns can be flagged through this connection. Other red flags to be aware of are various identical accounts (same addresses, names, info etc.), frequent excessive amounts being drawn, inconsistency, different handwriting than the victims, and other individuals handling the victims’ personal identifications.

By taking the initiative to be educated and aware of this problem, are small steps to minimizing rates. Human trafficking not only plays a role in Countries but ranges from cities to states as well. Hospitality organizations and banking companies play their part, but that part can be to help. Charlotte, being a city, provides an example of human trafficking arising, and this is my city. I’m taking the initiative to be conscious in my community and so should you.

In Charlotte, North Carolina anti-human trafficking resources have been set in motion to help reduce the rate of this organized crime. The following resources exist to help stop human trafficking and provide awareness upon it. Sponsoring a precautionary training created by the Justice Department’s Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center, Taking initiative, Charlotte Metropolitan Human trafficking task force and the U.S attorney have demonstrated various training for law enforcement officers, hospital workers, health care providers, hospitality industry workers, social workers, and community and volunteer groups. The goals of the training are to ensure, understand, and identify the necessary tools, methods, and approaches when dealing with trafficking victims which indeed is necessary for being one or multiple steps in decreased frequency.

Homeland security plays the role of investigating and arresting traffickers and protecting victims. They’ve established a campaign, The Blue Campaign , that’s geared to The Department of Homeland security playing the role of investigating and arresting traffickers and protecting victims. This organization is a federal one that aims to protect the U.S. against threats. consisting of wide-ranging functions that include aircraft security, border control, emergency response, and cybersecurity.
