How it works

Conor has always given personal reference throughout the text. He does this by helping the orphans and traveling all around the world. If you take a step back and look where the book was set and how he took all his time to take a break from his real life. Conor is selfless.

When Conor takes time from his real life and goes to travel and meet the orphans and children’s homes you can tell the resilience throughout the text and near the end of the book you can see the growth that Conor has made with the kids and even where he is in life.

“The first night, then, I went to sleep on the sand, a thousand miles from any human habitation. I was more isolated than a shipwrecked sailor on a raft in the middle of the ocean. Thus you can imagine my amazement, at sunrise, when I was awakened by an odd little voice.” (chapter 2)

“When the narrator first crashes in the desert, he expects to be there alone. It’s kind of funny, isn’t it, that he compares himself—someone stuck in the middle of a desert—to someone stuck in the middle of a huge body of water? It’s as though anything from the natural world that’s expensive, whether it’s sand or water, treats small, helpless people in the same way.”

After arriving home, Conor received a devastating email reporting that the seven kids had disappeared, snatched once again by the same trafficker. Soon he was back in Kathmandu, riding through the chaotic streets on the back of a local’s motorcycle, searching for his kids, seven needles in a corrupt haystack. And that is where Conor’s story begins….

Conor tackles his problems by doing thing for others and that is so good of him to do things for others when helping himself. He also learns so many things about the orphans and their culture. Conor is smart and knows many things but he really seems to understand and get the point of their culture. He wants the people to know that he is a good learner and able to do many things like them. Conor is a huge impact on the community and the kids and volunteer staff are so thankful to have Conor along for the work. He enjoys many things about the orphanage and the children’s home. One thing to take into consideration about this book is how the parents of the children act. They are the reason their children were in this situation in the first place. They were gullible enough to believe that Golkka, the human trafficker who took the children, when he said he was gonna take care of the children while the war was going on. But they are not entirely to blame. If I was a parent and my kids were in danger of getting harmed, I might not make the best decisions. They must have felt powerless and scared, and Golkka would have seemed like their saving grace. He came to them with what seemed like good intentions to them. But, as Samuel Johnson once said, “Hell is paved with good intentions.” I can’t say for sure, but if I was in a similar situation I might have done the exact same thing as the parents did.

When conor left for many months there was a journey ahead of him and he was thrilled to get to learn and meet the orphans and the children. This leads up to Conor Grennan building relationships in the book Little Princes.

I enjoy this book so much and have learned so much about it! It has been an interesting read and have really opened my eyes to so many different opportunities. Since I have read this book I have been thinking of going into the peace core outside of high school and going and really learning about myself and about the world. I have always been interested in helping people and going and exploring the world. This book Little Princes by: Conor Grennan, is so good and I would definitely recommend it to any people that are looking for a good book! It is such a good read and really has opened my eyes to many things I haven’t before.
