Biography of the Eminem

Eminem born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, October 17, 1972 in Saint Joseph, Missouri to his mother Debbie Mathers and father Marshall Bruce Mathers II. He did have a very rough upbringing in Detroit, as well as family issues and based most of his songs on those struggles. Aside from his upbringing he had a difficult start up and ended up at the right place at the right time. Along with challenges brought on that he had no control over, he was at one point in his life an addict.

(2) Even in grade school he flunked out of ninth grade three times. He also at one point didn’t even think about rapping, he wanted to be draw comics. When the comics didn’t work out he fell into rap and it has been a major factor in his life. Now he is a very successful man worth millions of dollars and I feel is a very inspiring person. (4)

The late 90’s and early 2000’s were a crucial time in Eminem being molded into the person he is today. He was on probation early on for bar fights over his wife and lost the Rap Olympics for a $1,500 prize, all while unknowingly being looked at by some producers from Interscope records who then got his only current album out, Infinite. (1)

Eminem has a dark past with drugs as well, throughout his career he has overdosed, survived, relapsed, and even after all that made he released his album “Recovery”. (2) He was addicted to Vicodin, Methadone, Vicodin, and Ambien. The addiction to various drugs started just by taking a pill he was told to take not knowing the addictive factors of the drug. He was originally only addicted to Vicodin. He was then prompted to try the other drug just by being told “here try this it’s not as hard on your liver”. He was a father to a little girl at this point and had he not arrived at the hospital when he did he most likely would not have survived. As I was reading through this interview Eminem had then been sober for 2 years.
Throughout the years he also has had many disses towards his mother, that at one point had his mother file a slandering lawsuit which left them estranged. He has always been a good committed father to his daughter Hailie and also got custody of his ex-wives daughter from another relationship. A major part of his sobriety is his children. He is so invested in helping other children as well that he donated $200,000 to Wolverine Human Services. He has also started his own organization Marshall Mathers foundation to help inner city youth in a crisis.

Eminem is very inspiring to me because he doesn’t care what others think. He does as he pleases and if a person doesn’t like that then it’s a shame for them. Eminem is an individual who has been born into a rock bottom situation, hit a personal rock bottom in his own life and still managed to thrive. He is inspiring to me because he has grit and doesn’t let anything stop him, he will manage to get over all of life’s obstacle. Hearing his story I feel could make anyone especially myself want to do better and reach those goals that seem too large for life. He was a nothing that made himself a something and that makes me want reach that goal that is difficult. If he can make a life out of what he has there’s no reason I cant do the same for myself.
