Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni or more commonly known by his first name Michelangelo. He was born in Caprese, Italy on March 6, 1475. He was still young when his family moved to Florence where Michelangelo grew up. Michelangelo had his mother in his life but for only a short period of time in his life. His mother died when he was only six years old. He grew up during the Italian Renaissance which was great time period to grow up in because loved to draw and the work of art that he could draw what he was experiencing and seeing on a daily. As a child all he did was paint and draw, and eventually became very good at it and decided to pursue it as a career as he got older.
How did he become famous?
When Michelangelo got older he moved to Rome where he was quickly noticed for his great art and received what we call now shoutout from Cardinal Jean Bilheres de Lagraulas. After this he went on to create the David Sculpture that previous artists had already tried to create but failed to do so. So this was 1 big step towards his famous career because after he created the David Sculpture masterpiece he was invited to Rome to officially begin his Art Career. Michelangelo was recognized by Domineco Ghirlandaio after only a year of hard work in drawings and different sculptings in painting. Ghirlandaio recommended Michelangelo for a position at the court of Florentine king Lorenzo Medici. Here, Michelangelo was officially known for his skillful work and developed new skills to advance his artworks and come even better. He also began studying cadavers with permission from the Catholic church and continued developing a name for himself as an artist.
How did he die?
Michelangelo died on February 18, 1864. During this time period studies show that people were dying at young ages but they didnt know why. So Michelangelo died at 88 years old and since they didn’t know why people were dying so young they considered it from old age. Also 1 thing lots of people don’t know is that he died 3 weeks before his 89th birthday.
